What's the number one question that IS NOT BEING ASKED by a majority of technical professionals we engage in the market?

Well, here it is: 'What do you think of my resume?' Even worse, most job seekers don't even realize there's anything wrong...
Please don’t ask about your resume just for the sake of asking, that's the wrong reason… Remember, it's YOUR CAREER and your responsibility to put in the time and 'sweat equity' of resume preparation. Capiche?

Looking for a JOB is a JOB! (Except it doesn’t pay as well as your last position) If you haven't figured that out yet, you soon will. That's probably why so many people decide to quit, but continue to show up!

How to FAIL at Social Media Advertising PDF Print E-mail

Yesterday, I received an offer from Omniture on LinkedIn. The problem wasn't the content (OK, I'm still having a hard time believing a claim of 500%+ ROI when compared to something that costs $0), it was that both LinkedIn and Omniture hit the mind eraser on every last lesson learned about permission marketing:

How to Get More from LinkedIn Groups PDF Print E-mail
I manage a couple of big LinkedIn Groups. Here are a couple of things I see people who consistently get value out of the groups do:
  1. When you post a question, follow up on other people's answers.  Don't start a conversation and walk away. Many people will lurk until they see there is a conversation. If you start a conversation, then participate.
  2. Avoid shameless self promotion. People don't react to it well. Instead of directly making offers, ask questions that would identify people worth talking to and engage them via follow up.
  3. If you would like to get more connections with relevant people, then simply put "connection invitations welcome" and your public email address under your signature to replies.
